Kar-Man is a Russian musical group that worked in a genre, the name of which was invented by the musicians themselves - exotic pop. The star of Sergei Lemokh and Bogdan Titomir flashed brightly in the early 90s. Now each of the soloists is known for the most part to lovers of club life.

The idea to unite into one team was submitted to Sergei and Bogdan by composer Arkady Ukupnik. He also became the first producer of musicians. The members of "Kar-Man" did not start to appear on the stage suddenly, before that they worked with Dmitry Malikov and Vladimir Maltsev: Titomir was a bass player, Lemokh played keyboards. For Vladimir they wrote the song "Paris", which later entered the first album.

The official date of the formation of the group is January 1990. Stylish and fashionable guys performing dance hits with bomb feed became the first male duet on the musical Olympus of new Russia. The musical direction they professed quickly gained popularity, in some sources referred to as the "travelers club", in others - exotic pop. At first the collective was called “Exotic-Pop-Duet”, then “Carmen” followed.

Later, according to Lemokh, the guys followed the lead of the fans and changed the name, dissociating themselves from the analogies with the loving Spanish beauty. As Sergei later said, the phrase “Kar-Man” contains a reference to the American concept “CarMan”, which means “road man, traveler” or “truck driver”.

For less than two years, "Kar-Men", as they say, collected stadiums, won the first national charts, cassettes with songs scattered with a bang. Uncomplicated, but incendiary songs performed by brutal guys with creative haircuts and in an original "outfit" were heard not only by spectators of concert venues in Russia, but also abroad. The team collected a bunch of awards and titles: "Discovery" and "Group of the Year", "Ovation", "Shlyager of the Year", "Star Rain".

The group at different times included the colorful Cuban Mario Francisco Diaz, black actress Diana Rubanova, Marina Kabaskova and Sergei Kolkov performed on the backing vocals.

At the peak of popularity, Bogdan Titomir left the team. According to numerous sources on the Web, the split occurred due to the fact that the participants, being strong personalities, began to pull the blanket over themselves. Conflicts began. Moreover, as Titomir later claimed, the group stopped developing, and he allegedly offered to write other music, but did not meet with Sergey's understanding.

The first album "Kar-Man", in full accordance with the "style of travelers", was called "Around the World". It included hits, in the names of which a particular geographical name was mentioned: "London, Goodbye", "Delhi", "My Girl from America".

The second album Carmania, the material for which the soloists were preparing together, Sergei released already one, rewriting the vocal parts. After Titomir left, Lemokh got the Kar-Man brand, he renewed the line-up, composed the words and music himself, and continued to enjoy success. Although on the forums, fans of the group noticed that Bogdan's backing vocals are still heard in some places.

The compositions from the new album continued the "geographical" theme: "Philippine Witch", "San Francisco", "Caribbean Girl", "Bombay Boogie". A clip was shot on the title theme "Bad russians".

The fan Internet communities discussed the situation with the next album "Kar-Man" called "Diesel Fog". Some fans claim that the disc was released in 1993, the print run was printed at the Soyuz studio, but was withdrawn from sale due to copyright problems.

The result was the English-language album This is Car-Man. Lemokh noted that it makes sense to release a musical product outside of Russia only when he is sure that the songs will be listened to by residents of the country where the album is being written. The approach to music abroad is different from the domestic one. In addition, in Sergei’s homeland, everything was fine in terms of quality, but the conditions for recording were “many times better there”.

For the 5th anniversary the band has timed the long-awaited disc "Your sexy thing", in which slow songs predominated. "Southern Shaolin" was accompanied by a video clip.

The album "King of the Disc" in 1998 was released in three versions: the usual, the so-called gift with a booklet, and licensed from the JERIE firm. A clip has been filmed for the title track "Dance Disco". A year later, fans received the remix album Back to the Future.

In 2001, Lemokh organized an annual show tour across the country "Kar-Man" - 10 years ". Before that, a series of discs called "Legends of Russian Disco" was released.

To comments on where the group had disappeared, Sergei replied that the absence of performances in promoted places and shows on TV does not mean that Kar-Man has ceased to exist.
