Lucia Leticia Mendes Perez was born on January 26, 1956, in Leon de los Aldam, Mexico. Antonio Mendes Velasco's father was a chemical engineer by profession, and Martha Ophelia's mother, Peres Mendes, was a housewife and child-rearing officer. The girl spent her childhood on the ranch at her grandparents' house.

Mendes at an early age began to show artistic talent, interested in the life of cinema and theater.
